چکیده

The safety performance of nuclear power plants (NPPs) is a very important factor in evaluating energy sustainability. Safety analysis passive and active systems have positive influence on reactor transient mitigation. One the common transients primary coolant leg rupture. This study focused guillotine large break loss (LB-LOCA) one vessels, which cold rupture occurred, after establishment steady-state condition for VVER-1000. responses emergence core cooling (ECCSs) were investigated. main margin considered during this simulation was to check maximum value clad surface temperature, it then compared with design licensing limit 1474 K. calculations event progression used engineering-level RELAP5/SCDAPSIM/MOD3.5 thermal-hydraulic program, also provide more detailed treatment system thermal hydraulics behavior. obtained results show that actuation ECCSs at their set points provided by injecting water into pressure vessel, as expected. peak cladding temperature did not overpass LB-LOCA transient. above decreased rapidly from 15.7 MPa 1 less than 10 s, stabilizes up end fuel 847 K 378 first 30 s time. leakage reduced 9945 kg/s approximately 461 190 Overall, shows that, within VVER-1000, inherent robustness containing LB-LOCA.

Primary Loop Study of a VVER-1000 Reactor With special Focus on Coolant Mixing

In this paper a detailed model of a VVER1000 reactor pressure vessel (RPV) with the extension of simplified primary loops is presented (Loop model). The primary loop components like steam generators and pumps are modelled by the outer shapes and additional source terms for energy and momentum exchange. The RPV model part is tested without primary loops and compared with former results obtained ...

Integral Behavior of the Atlas Facility for a 3-inch Small Break Loss of Coolant Accident

Over the past 30 years, several large integral facilities have been utilized in order to understand transient behavior in nuclear power plants. The main objective of these integral facilities was to enhance our physical understanding of transient phenomena during LOCA or non-LOCA transients. An integral database was also used as a basis for the development and verification of thermal hydraulic ...

Evaluation of Single Failure Effects During Loss of Coolant Accidents For A VVER-440 Reactor

This paper describes the results of an analysis of loss of coolant accidents (LOCA's) for the Soviet designed, light water cooled and moderated reactors referred to as VVERs. The VVER unit selected for this analysis is designated as VvER-440 Model 213. This plant generates 440 Mwe and is of current interest since meen are now operating and additional units are in various stages of construction ...
